Community-Based Cultural Heritage Tourism Initiative in Upper Egypt, Upper Egypt, 2024-2025

Funded by the U.S. Embassy Cairo and implemented by the Smithsonian Institution Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, this initiative aims to design sustainable, community-driven cultural heritage tourism activities in Upper Egypt. Known for its historical treasures like Luxor and Karnak, the region holds immense potential for experiential tourism, where travelers engage directly with local traditions and cultures.

Nexora Group’s Ashkhen Khudaverdyan will be providing planning, implementation, management, and documentation support for this cultural vitality project. She will assist in creating engaging, inclusive and sustaining tourism experiences by working with local researchers and team members to conceptualize and design experiences to present their heritage in immersive, hands-on formats while deepening community connections to heritage and place.
